So how do I get the BirdNET-Pi out into the garden?

Options

There are several ways to place the BirdNET-Pi outdoors:

Birdhouse:

You can build the Pi into a wooden birdhouse. Keep in mind that it is not weatherproof. So place it in a sheltered spot and bring it indoors when it rains or freezes.

Junction box:

At DIY stores you can find junction boxes for electrical installations. These work well to protect the Pi from the weather.

Running only the microphone outside:

You can also run just the microphone outside. That way the Pi stays dry, and you can design the housing however you like.
